Host Your Own Screening:

The world premiere of A Mother is Born was held last November in Edmonton and we have to say it was a lot of fun. The event included a cash bar, appetizers, silent auction, live music and was entry by donation with proceeds going to a local organization. We encourage those who hold screening to use funds from their event to help their local community - donate to charity, buy a birthing ball for the hospital, buy some birthing books for a lending library - the options are limitless. We found our event was a great way to engage the public, promote collaborative women centered care and have a night out!

We are happy to promote your event on our social media (twitter, facebook, tumblr and website). We can provide you with digital copies of posters for the event as promotional material. The posters have a blank space for you to add your event details such as location, time, admission rate, etc.

What you need to Host a Screening

A suitable venue is required to hold a screening. Depending on the size of your event this may be a simple as a classroom, or as big as a local theatre. Please note that if you choose to hold a bar at your event, you are required to obtain your own liqour licence.

A public screening license is required to host a screening of "A Mother Is Born". Our Birthing Babies Team will use the funds collected from screenings to continue the promotion of our project and film and to help cover the cost of administration and public relations. We are flexible on the cost as we would rather the film be viewed and a meaningful discussion take place - so please don't hesitate to contact us!

The cost for the license is as follows:

Small Community Screening ($100): password protected link and license for one public screening with an audience of less than 50 people:

Medium Community Screening ($200): password protected link and license for one public screening with an audience of less than 100 people.

Large Community Screening ($250): password protected link and license for one public screening with an audience of 100-250 people.

Institutional Licensing ($250): An institutional license allows your school to keep the film as a permanent educational resource within your institution. It is available as either a digital download or in DVD format.
